About the App
Quote of the Day is built in two parts: the API/back end and the client facing iOS application.
There's been a lot of buzz over server-side Swift. The community is super excited about its performance against other popular web frameworks so I was really excited to dig in to the code and see what all the fuss was about.
My experience with back end development is limited to a One Month Rails course I completed in 2013. However, the server-side Swift frame work Vapor made things easy. The syntax was familiar and getting my web app deployed to Heroku was a breeze.
API: Vapor, PostgreSQL, Skeleton, Heroku
iOS: Xcode 8, Swift 3, MVC, programmatic views (no storyboards)
